Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra ra-ra-ra-ra (to the tune of “Deck the Halls”)Posted: November 28, 2007
For Thanksgiving this year, we decided to buck the system and not cook. I realize that’s sacrilegious, but we just didn’t want to think about cooking for a couple of days, eating in 1/2 an hour (during which time the kids would not have sat for more than 10 min), and then cleaning for 2 hours after that. Plus we (by we, read I) thought it would be an adventure. Unfortunately, I did what I always do and put off making reservations until the last minute. When I realized that if I didn’t find a place soon we wouldn’t eat, it was way to late to actually make a reservation some place good. So, instead, we decided to cruise for open restaurants on Convoy street, which is a quirky part of town with every kind of Asian food restaurant imaginable, all crammed into strip malls. We eventually settled on the Imperial Mandarin (the place in the picture is not actually where we ate, but it has almost the same name…). The food was good, the kids enjoyed themselves, the place was practically empty, and we still had leftovers afterwards.
